Hope Hicks, a former top aide to then-President Donald Trump, ended her testimony Friday in his New York criminal trial for allegedly falsifying records related to a hush money payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels. Hicks said she was stunned by the “Access Hollywood” video revealed by The Washington Post in 2016 and worried about what Trump’s recorded comments about grabbing women’s genitalia could mean for his campaign.

Here's what to know:

Prosecutors have pointed to the “Access Hollywood” video — and the ensuing fallout — as a key element of their case against Trump. They say that because Trump and his allies believed that more stories involving women could hurt his campaign, they were particularly motivated to silence such allegations.

Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records related to his reimbursem*nt of longtime lawyer Michael Cohen for the hush money payment to Daniels. Prosecutors say Trump illegally classified the reimbursem*nt as a legal expense, rather than a campaign expense, to keep it from becoming public.

The trial is not being televised. The Washington Post has reporters in the courtroom and media overflow room who are posting live updates.
